Greetings from Maine! We are in the midst of a major ice storm. This is the second day of freezing rain that coats layers of ice. Two more days are forecast. Brian went back to high school on Monday following the holiday break, and has been home since then. I fear that he may be going to school until July 1 this year if the weather does not improve soon, as all the allotted snow days will be used. I am writing to let you know that I have been trying to become sufficiently computer literate to coordinate a listserv focused on agenesis of the corpus callosum. The University of Maine agreed to host the list and has provided me some technical assistance. I still am trying to understand my role as the "list owner," but in the meantime, I think we are ready to invite you to subscribe if you wish to participate. Briefly, you can subscribe by doing the following: 1. Send an email to: Listserv@maine.edu 2. Leave the subject line blank. 3. For the message, simply write: subscribe acc-l (first name last name) You will receive a message from the UMaine computer asking you to confirm that you wish to be added to the list and explaining how to make that confirmation. If you confirm, you will receive two messages that provide instructions as to the operation of the listserv. I always make a paper copy of messages like those to help me when I forget how the system operates. I have set this listserv up as an open list, meaning anyone can subscribe and post messages. I invite people to give me feedback as to how the list is operating as people begin posting messages. Please remember, I am new at this role. I will do my best to facilitate the list operation. Welcome aboard!
