About Maki

UPDATED: 07/13/1997
My daughter Maki was born in 8 months as a premature.

  • Until diagnosis
    There was a shadow around her back head on the CT scanning, but she was not matured yet to be disgnosed clearly and the doctor told us she may go well if she could walk by 1.5 years old.
    Eventually, she was diagnosed Celebral Palsy at 11 months and told she also has Agenesis of the Corpus Callosum when she was 19 months.

  • Symptoms
    Legs:
    Muscle stress --> SPASTIC
    She can crawl and stand up on her knees, but cannot keep her posture still. Toes go down straightly underward and knees turning toward inside. Cannot move the artculation separately--thigh,knee,ankle. All at once bend or stretch.
    Arms:
    Not good at large motions, but can use a knife or a fork.
    Eyes:
    She has inside squint. She began to wear glasses to correct sight direction because the eye doctor told us unless that she might lose her eyesight.

  • Rehabilitations
    When 1 year old she began rehabilitation and therapy at Ayumi-home which was established under the welfare institution of Chiba prefecture. In addition, when she was 2.5 years old she began to go to Matsudo-hospital for further rehabilitation.

  • These days
    She is 3.5 years old now. Although she cannot stand up nor walk yet, she is crawling around vigorously. When we go out, she rides on a tricycle specially made for the handicaped children. Talking and chewing seems normal to me. It is obvious that she has CP ,but in appearance we cannot find clear symptoms of ACC.
    Her characteristics is vigorous and stubborn. She is always competing to her sister. She likes music and dancing(only up and down with her knees).
