The present paper reports on the effects of SNP and 8-bromo - cGMP on ATP - evoked IKca2+ in rat megakaryocytes.

The findings while of interest appear to be a very limited and superficial extension of the work of Johansson and Haynes on CGMP in platelets.

The authors provide no evidence for a purinergic receptor mediated effect of ATP on IKca2+ even to the extent of citing the previous literature.

No controls were run for the effects of H-8, Rp-cAMPS, forskolin, 8-BrcGMP or IBMX alone. The effects of SNP co-administered with ATP rather than pretreated were not examined. No combination studies with SNP and 8-BrcGMP were run. Why was 30ｵM SNP used in 2A?

The paper is in need of extensive revision, the grammar is poor to the extent of being diftcult to interpret, In addition, the authors have not cited current literature especially that related to SNP and NO, They miscite their own work ***, 1993 should be **** et al, 1993a or b - which?
